Has a paperback gem ever grabbed your attention in your local café or second-hand bookstore? The charm of vintage covers and yellowed pages has definitely inspired artist Terry Border. Already known for breathing life into inanimate objects, he decided to show the unique personality of these weathered books in his series Wiry Limbs, Paper Backs. He used bending wire and small props to highlight the themes of classic works of fiction.
Check out how Terry’s sense of humour and creativity helps bring out the character of these books. Homer’s Odyssey has already packed for an epic adventure, the betrayed Julius Caesar is “bleeding” paper scraps, while Orwell’s Big Brother is keeping an eye on everything and everyone. Last year Terry himself published Peanut Butter & Cupcake, a book for pre-schoolers featuring yummy characters with wiry limbs.
You’ll find the rest of Terry’s wire-tastic work on his website.
